New look Neighbourhood Recycling Points in Inverclyde
Inverclyde Council has decided to give a number of neighbourhood recycling points a makeover by introducing the latest in recycling containers. ‘Node’ containers provide a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution to street recycling.
Councillor Robert Moran, Convener of Safe, Sustainable Communities visited the first site to have the nodes installed and was pleased with the results. He said ‘These new containers are attractive and convenient for the public to use. As the cruise season has already started, we liaised with Clyde Port Ltd and agreed to use the Patrick Street site as a pilot. I am sure everyone will agree the upgraded site gives a positive impression to both visitors and locals.’
Neighbourhood recycling points can be used to recycle glass and textiles with many sites also having containers for the recycling of paper, cardboard, cans, plastic bottles and food containers. Additionally, householders can deposit unwanted items, free of charge, at Kirn Drive and Pottery Street recycling centres.
